Next month, Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) will offer four technical assistance webinars focused on the transition from the ASAM 3rd Edition to the ASAM 4th Edition for both adults and youth.
The ASAM Criteria, developed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, are used to define treatment criteria for different levels of care for substance-related and co-occurring conditions. After passage of SB 5361, adoption of the ASAM 4th Edition in Washington was delayed until January 2028. HCA maintains a webpage with helpful tools and resources to support future implementation.
