Review potential errors in hospital data on Department of Health websites

There are significant discrepancies between the Department of Health’s Hospital Year End Reports and Quarterly Charity Care Applications and hospitals submissions. If fixes are needed, notify DOH at [email protected] and WSHA at [email protected].

Year End reports can be accessed on Community Hospital Year End Reports | Washington State Department of Health. Each year and hospital can be selected. Note that years prior to 2025 include a list of non-compliant hospitals – check if your hospital is mislabeled as non-compliant.

The public can access information on the Balance Sheet and Income Statement. The aggregate report is dated 7/9/2026 and does not include at least 27 submissions that DOH or the hospital state submitted.

Hospitals are required by state law to report a variety of data pieces to DOH. Submitting on time ensures reporting accuracy, upholds regulatory compliance and enables effective financial oversight. It is a major concern that DOH’s information DOH is incorrect and could make your hospital look noncompliant to your community and policymakers. (Miriam Bright)
