SUMMARY:From Awareness to Action: Hospital Strategies for Opioid Overdose Prevention
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\n\n \n\nInternational Overdose Awareness Day is held each year on August 31st and serves as a time to promote education about overdose prevention\, honor the lives of individuals lost to overdose\, and identify concrete steps everyone can take to prevent overdose. Hospital teams are uniquely positioned to work on opioid overdose prevention and across Washington state\, healthcare professionals are already leading the way to reduce overdose deaths. While we did see a decrease in overdose deaths in 2024\, there were still over 3\,000 lives lost\, and the landscape of what drugs are leading to overdose continues to shift. \nJoin WSHA for a webinar in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day and learn concrete strategies all hospitals can use to help prevent opioid overdose. \nLearning objectives:\n– Describe current overdose rates statewide and highlight new and emerging areas of concern\n– Demonstrate at least three hospital opportunities to impact overdose rates\n– Identify free resources available for hospitals
