SUMMARY:External Event: Stabilizing High-Risk Pregnancy in OUD: A Two-Part Webinar on Inpatient Care
DESCRIPTION:This external webinar is hosted by University of Washington Addictions\, Drug & Alcohol Institute. \n\n\nSeptember 23rd & October 21st | 12:00 – 1:00 PM PST | Register Here \n\nOpioid use disorder (OUD) in pregnancy is a high-risk condition\, and inpatient admission can be an appropriate\, medically necessary way to stabilize the patient’s health and support the pregnancy. This two-part webinar presents both the clinical rationale for these stabilizing admissions and a practical framework for delivering them. \nPart 1: Clinical Considerations for Admission establishes the clinical foundation\, examining the maternal\, obstetric\, and neonatal risks associated with OUD in pregnancy; the role of medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in mitigating those risks; and the indications and medical necessity for admission. It also addresses a reimbursement misconception: that such admissions are made “to initiate MOUD\,” rather than to stabilize a high-risk pregnancy. \nPart 2: The Pathway for Stabilizing Admissions translates this foundation into practice. In a moderated panel discussion\, experienced clinicians share how stabilizing admissions are carried out across a range of care settings\, offering case examples and lessons learned. \n\nWho Should Attend\nThis series is intended for clinicians and health system professionals involved in the care of pregnant patients with OUD\, including obstetric\, family medicine\, addiction medicine\, and ED and inpatient-based providers and nurses\, as well as administrative leaders engaged in admission and reimbursement decisions. \n\nRegister at: bit.ly/StabilizingOUDPregnancyWebinar
